issue 1
bite back is a saddle-stitch experimental zine that
examines the use of cannibalism in media to critique
feminist themes such as autonomy, sexuality,
patriarchal structures, and friendship. the first issue of
bite back dissects the paramount series yellowjackets,
a drama set in the 1990s that follows the crash of a
plane carrying a girls high school soccer team. in an
effort to survive the harsh winter months, the girls
resort to cannibalism. the zine artistically portrays the
deteriorating psyche of the girls through the use of
abstract imagery, unconventional infographics, and
grunge textures.
